SOLD: "Damn Gorgeous" (Novella, Paranormal Romance)

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
It's always a pleasure to receive an email such as this:

We are delighted to offer a publishing contract for your novella, Damn Gorgeous.

The signed contract will be winging its way on Friday to Noble Romance Publishing.

Some of you may recall me working like an insane crazy person diligently on a new novella while Reno was away earlier in the month. This would be it.

Here is a short, very unofficial blurb (actually, this was part of my detailed synopsis for my submission, but it doesn't contain any spoilers and it reads sort of blurbish-like):

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
Messiah I: The Three of Cups

Now on sale at Torquere Press.

In the year 2039, the world is a better place, thanks to one man. Fresh from college, Malcolm Wilder engineered a cheap fix to fossil fuel dependence. The new energy-for-all economy brought on world peace, and as Earth and its people began to heal, creatures once thought to be the stuff of myth decided it was finally safe to reveal themselves. A decade later, Malcolm is a corporate giant living in exotic Dubai.

He's on the cover of every magazine and his name on everyone's lips. Malcolm's business partner and lifelong friend, Levi Tanner, is concerned that Malcolm isn't allowing himself to enjoy his fame and fortune. Levi finally takes Malcolm to Mortal Sins, a local hot spot that caters to those looking for something a little different in the way of adult recreation. Little does Malcolm know, but the world still has a few problems of Biblical proportion and all hell is about to break loose.

Authors' Note: Dark, futuristic urban fantasy. Discretion is advised for those sensitive to religious themes.

"StarCrossed 3: Objects in the Mirror" Now on Sale at All Romance Ebooks!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
StarCrossed 3: Objects in the Mirror

Now on sale at All Romance Ebooks.

StarCrossed 3: Objects in the Mirror takes us back to the town of Salem, Massachusetts, famous for the witch trials of 1692. In the wake of that tragic time, the town has done everything in its power to be charitable toward its more unique residents. Tarot readers, a nightclub with a twist, and little shops dedicated to magic and New Age arts line the downtown streets. One of every four Salem residents claims either to be a witch or to know one.

What newcomers don't realize, however, is that witches are hardly the only usual people who might be living next door.

Jace and Konnor Barton are demon twins enjoying a much-improved life after narrowly escaping a very rough start. Given a second chance, they live in the protective care of their adoptive father, vampire Gennady Zaitsev. Trouble starts when local clergy are brutally murdered, and the Salem Special Council—of which Gennady is the president—is asked to rein in a potentially dangerous citizen.

Twenty years should have been enough to leave their past behind them, but it has come charging after the Barton twins with an unholy vengeance. When one brother falls under suspicion for the clergy murders, it shatters the heart of the other. Only an unlikely alliance of angels, vampires, were-creatures, and humans can help the brothers and keep the secret of supernatural beings living in Salem safe from the outside world.

The clock is ticking.

"Like Magnets, We Attract": Call for Submissions, Update, and Cover!

Like Magnets, We Attract

Editor: Jaye Valentine
Length: 3,000 – 7,000 words

Deadline: March 15, 2009 (11:59 p.m. EST) or when all slots are filled (whichever occurs first)

Cover art by Reno MacLeod:

Lovers who are polar opposites. Perhaps one is a slob around the house, and his partner is a neat-freak. Maybe they have opposite zodiac signs, and according to horoscopes should never be able to make their relationship work. A weretiger and a werewolf? We've all heard how cats and dogs don't get along. The rocket scientist and the dockworker, the quiet type and the chatterbox, the conservative and the flamboyant. The Wall Street stockbroker and the Southern California surfer. The cop and the ex-con.

Like Magnets, We Attract is a male/male short story anthology full of hot men who appear to be complete mismatches for their partners. Let your imagination run wild. As long as your guys are complete opposites in some way, we would love to read about them!

All stories must feature a male/male couple and be scorching hot, with well-developed, original characters and engaging plots. Stories will range from 3,000 – 7,000 words and should have a solid conclusion. Erotica and erotic romance are welcomed. Sex must take place "on-screen" and be explicit.

UPDATE AS OF FEBRUARY 24, 2009: To date, a total of five stories have been accepted for publication for a total of approximately 25,000 words. This is more than enough to justify a print version, and we will be moving forward with both the print and ebook formats. I'm very excited about the broad spectrum of stories, the diversity of the authors, and the quality of the work.

The deadline for submissions remains 11:59 p.m. EST on March 15, 2009. I will be accepting submissions until that time or when we reach twenty (20) accepted submissions, whichever occurs first.

Hanky Code Contest!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
In StarCrossed 2 ½: Sangria and Seraphim, angel Ariel sends a message to demon Jace Barton in the form of a hanky code, using an article of his clothing in lieu of a handkerchief.

Missed it the first time through, didn't you? I tsk you. Tsk, tsk, tsk. :-)

Entrants who correctly identify:

1) The article of clothing and its color,
2) Which pocket Ariel stuffs the article of clothing into,
3) And what that hanky code means...

...will be entered into a random drawing for an ebook package containing the entire backlist to date of Reno MacLeod and Jaye Valentine, "Only Words" by Acer Adamson (Jaye's solo nom de plume), with a bonus gift of the forthcoming March 11th release of StarCrossed 3: Objects in the Mirror upon publication.

Kassa of Rainbow Reviews writes: "There are a surprising number of elements woven into this fabulously engaging and riveting tale. Between the menage relationship, BDSM elements, tension from outside forces, the mixture of personalities, needs, and wants, the authors manage to deliver a well-written, cohesive and beautiful story. Although this is a romance, the characters have an intensity and edge that never mistake this for an easy relationship." 4 1/2 stars

Where the hell did Sniper and Brushfire go? Here, let me show you!

Add to Memories Tell a Friend
(Cross-posted to LiveJournal)

Hey, guys!

A lot has happened in the past year. As many of you know, Brushfire and I took a sabbatical from fandom in order to pursue a professional writing career. It's been a lot of hard work, a lot of stress, and a lot of fun. It's finally starting to pay off. I decided it was high time to share, since many of you had told me that you'd be interested in our professional work once it became available.

We've been busy! )
